Assabet Valley Regional Tech Donates Health and Medical Supplies to Local Agencies

MARLBOROUGH — Massachusetts Association of Vocational Administrators (MAVA) Executive Director Kevin Farr and Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School Superintendent Ernest Houle announce that Assabet Valley donated a variety of health and medical supplies to area health agencies.

“Assabet has been, and will always be, committed to being a community resource,” said Superintendent Houle. “In times of need, such as this COVID-19 situation, we all need to do more to help each other out. We are happy to be able to do our part and donate supplies to local agencies that help to take care of our community members.”

On Friday, March 20 and Wednesday, March 25, members of the school’s administrative team gathered a large quantity of gloves, masks, safety goggles and other supplies to donate to those in need. 

The school donated a total of 12,000 gloves, 95 N95 Masks, 120 pairs of eye protection, 200 medical gowns and 200 face masks.

The items were divided up equally among two local agencies, the UMass Memorial – Marlborough Hospital and the Coleman House in Northborough.

Most of the supplies came from the school’s health technologies, automotive technologies, post-secondary LPN program and carpentry departments.

“We are so appreciative of the donation that Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School made to Marlborough Hospital,” said John Kelly, Chief Nursing Officer/Chief Operating Officer at UMass Memorial – Marlborough Hospital. “We have been community partners with the school for many years and in many ways. The generosity and continuous offers to help in any way speaks highly of how important keeping our caregivers and patients safe is to the school’s leadership.”
