Bank of Canton Waives Money Order and Cashier’s Check Fee for Norwood Residents to Make Town Payments

NORWOOD — Bank of Canton will be waiving the fee for money orders and cashier checks for Norwood residents whose only option to make town payments is cash.

NORWOOD — Bank of Canton will be waiving the fee for money orders and cashier checks for Norwood residents whose only option to make town payments is cash.

The Town of Norwood announced on Sunday, March 15 the decision to close many of the Town Hall offices from March 16 through at least March 20 due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, which the World Health Organization has declared to be a global pandemic and President Donald Trump has declared a national emergency.

Money orders and cashier’s checks provide a more secure option for residents to make payments while Town Hall offices are closed. Payments for the Treasurer may be left in the drop boxes around the building or in the parking lot, or paid by mail or online.

Bank of Canton will waive the fee of a money order or cashier’s check for Norwood residents until Town Hall offices reopen.

In order to get a money order or cashier’s check, residents should work with staff at Bank of Canton main offices, 557 Washington St. in Canton, and bring a photo ID with them. Residents do not have to have an account with the bank. Checks must be payable to the Town of Norwood.

Town Hall services will be available by appointment, on a case by case basis. Please call 781-762-1240 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to inquire about an appointment.

More information about the Town Hall office closures can be found here.
