Plymouth Fire Department Limiting Public Access to Fire Stations as Coronavirus Precaution

Measure Goes Into Effect Today

PLYMOUTH — Chief G. Edward Bradley reports that the Plymouth Fire Department will be limiting access to the public at its fire stations as way to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and would like to assure residents that the level of service provided by the department will not change.

“We will be closing our lobbies and stations to members of the public as our way of practicing social distancing to limit the spread of the coronavirus,” Chief Bradley said. “Our stations will still be active and we will be responding to all emergency calls.”

The following regulations will be put in place at the Plymouth Fire Department:

• The department asks residents to conduct as much business as possible through email and telephone.
• Regular business office hours will be from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• The fire stations will be locked, people should call ahead of time to make appointments. The department business line is 508-830-4213.
• Once at the station, the door will be locked, press the doorbell and someone will meet you at the door to inquire your needs, maintain social distancing (six feet of space).
• Department staff will get your paperwork and deliver it to be processed, then the completed paperwork will be available to be picked up the following day after 9 a.m.
• Please call or email ahead of time before going to the department.
• As this is a fluid situation, stay informed to be aware of any modifications that are put in place.

Smoke and CO inspections/certifications will still take place. Interior building inspections will still take place, but only in unoccupied spaces. Meter reads will take place if they are on the exterior of the home.

Additional Closures in Plymouth

Town administrative offices will close to the public effective Tuesday, March 17, until further notice. Employees will still report to work as usual, however, public service and customer service tasks will be done by phone, email and video conferencing.

The following Town facilities will be closed to the public until further notice: 

• Town Hall
• Police and Fire Administrative offices
• DPW administration, both offices on Camelot Drive
• Cemetery and crematory offices

• Wastewater Treatment Plant offices
• Airport Administration offices 
• Public playgrounds where there is playground equipment
• Town skate parks and recreational fields will stay open, however, officials ask that residents maintain distance from each other if using these areas.

“These interruptions are stressful, but they are necessary due to the ongoing health crisis,” Chief Bradley said. “We are making every effort to prepare for and react to developments in order to stay ahead of the virus and keep the public safe. We encourage all residents to practice proper social distancing and above all else, stay home if they feel sick.”
