RAYMOND — Superintendent Tina McCoy seeks to continuously update the Raymond School District community on the COVID-19 situation:
“Effective immediately, as per a decree by Governor Chris Sununu, Raymond students will not return to school buildings until at least April 3. At that point the situation will be reassessed. There is a chance that this decree will remain in place beyond that date.
“All employees, aside from those who are known by the administration to be in self-quarantine, will be required to report to work during the week of March 16, 2020 for professional development and organizational preparation for remote learning for Raymond students.
“Remote learning will begin in the Raymond School District on Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
“Parents/guardians must complete the required technology survey. Technology equipment will be loaned to families that need it to support remote learning. If you are adequately equipped in your home, please do not ask to borrow equipment as we need to prioritize student needs.
“Parents/guardians who are in need of technology equipment can begin to check out equipment at the schools between the hours of 2-6 p.m. on Monday, March 16. After that time equipment can be checked out by appointment. Please note that parents with more than one child in the school system can pick up equipment for all of their children, if needed, at the school of the oldest sibling.
“A technology support hotline has been established, and will be open for parents/guardians during regular school hours beginning on March 17, 2020. The number is 603-690-9005.
“Any parent who would like to obtain bagged meals for students during this time will be able to sign up to receive those meals. Information about how to sign up for this service is forthcoming from our Food Service Director, Judy DiNatale.
“Each school will develop and disseminate further information, including designated times for parents/students to pick up personal belongings at schools if needed.
“Please understand that social distancing, in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, is the goal of this transition to remote learning. Therefore, parents are asked to keep children and youth at home as much as possible, and to refrain from allowing play dates, sleepovers and the like during the next few weeks. Thank you for your cooperation at this challenging time of transition.”
COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic this week by the World Health Organization and has moved Governor Chris Sununu to declare a State of Emergency in New Hampshire and President Donald Trump to declare a national emergency.
