No Confirmed or Suspected Cases in Easton
EASTON — Easton Superintendent of Schools Lisha Cabral and Director of Health and Community Services Kristin Kennedy would like to provide the community with some important information about the recently updated recommendations for travelers returning from countries affected by COVID-19 and designated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as “Warning Level 3.”
Travelers returning from Italy and South Korea are advised to self-quarantine at home and self-monitor their health for 14 days after returning to the U.S. Those who self-monitor should take their temperature twice a day and remain alert for cough or difficulty breathing.
Travelers returning from China and Iran are required to self-quarantine and self-monitor with public health supervision for 14 days after returning to the U.S. This means that public health authorities will assume the responsibility for the oversight of symptom monitoring for these travelers. Easton is prepared and will undertake this process as required.
Guidance for how to protect those in your household can be found on the CDC website.
Individuals who share households with those who have returned from level 3 countries and are following the suggested steps to limit the spread by separating themselves from other affected household members are NOT required to also self-quarantine.
Individuals with specific concerns or questions are encouraged to contact the Massachusetts Department of Public Health via the 24/7 EPI line at 617-983-6800 and/or their primary care physician or pediatrician.
Prevention efforts offer the strongest protection from all illnesses including the novel coronavirus. Individuals are encouraged to use proper hand hygiene: washing your hands frequently, with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds each time.
- cough etiquette: covering your nose and mouth when you cough, ideally with your shoulder or inside of your elbow.
- staying home when sick
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has developed a fact sheet (available in several different languages) which can be found here.

Town officials will keep you informed of updates or changes as they are advised by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
We hope that this information allows you to make informed choices regarding you and your family’s health and wellness.
