RAYMOND — Superintendent Tina McCoy is pleased to announce that Raymond School District was given an Outstanding Leadership in Education Award this morning by New Hampshire Jobs for America’s Graduates (NH-JAG).
Superintendent McCoy and Raymond High School Principal Steve Woodward accepted the award on the district’s behalf on Tuesday morning during the 14th annual NH-JAG Leadership Awards Breakfast at the Derryfield Restaurant in Manchester. Gov. Chris Sununu also attended the breakfast, which recognized the efforts of the NH-JAG.
NH-JAG is affiliated with Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG), a national nonprofit which works to reduce the numbers of students dropping out of high schools through various career development and leadership initiatives. Through NH-JAG, students have the opportunity to hone leadership skills, explore career opportunities, build confidence and take part in career development activities.
The award recognizes the district for its activism and support of the NH-JAG program, as well as its JAG class, which provides students with career development and leadership opportunities.
“It was an honor for Raymond Public Schools to be recognized by New Hampshire Jobs for America’s Graduates this morning,” Superintendent McCoy said. “Our vision statement says it all — to prepare students for future success in their post-secondary endeavors, and to be ready for anything. We have a great partnership with our local Walmart Distribution Center, and as a result, our students have an opportunity to access career development opportunities right in our community.”
At Raymond High School, 56 students currently take part in an NH-JAG class where they have the opportunity to take part in leadership, career development and business related activities, field trips and a mentoring program through the Walmart Distribution Center in Raymond. Students in the program take an annual tour of the distribution center as well.
