Volunteers Needed To Organize and Participate At Expo
MANSFIELD — Superintendent Teresa Murphy is pleased to announce that Mansfield’s Envision the Future STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) network will be hosting their STEM Expo for students once again.
WHEN:
Saturday, April 4, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
WHERE:
Jordan/Jackson Elementary School, 255 East St.
WHAT:
Mansfield’s Massachusetts Envision the Future STEM Team is partnering with Together We Can to host its 2020 Envision the Future STEM Expo for the fourth year.
The Expo offers students in fifth through seventh grade the opportunity to meet professionals in the STEM field and engage in STEM activities. At the Expo, workshops and activities will be presented by engineering corporations, educational organizations and parent volunteers.
STEM fields including agriculture, biomedicine, engineering, clinical sciences, math and statistics, military technology, physical science and more will be represented at this year’s Expo. Previous Expo presenters include: the Cambridge Science Festival, Waters, ThermoFisher Scientific, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), US Army Corps of Engineers and more.
Registration is open for those interested in attending the Expo. The Expo is free and attendance will be granted on a first come, first served basis due to limited space. The event is open to 150 students accompanied by one parent or guardian – siblings cannot be accommodated.
Attendees are asked to participate in the full day of activities and will follow an event schedule in order to attend each of the presentations and workshops.
Mansfield Envision the Future STEM Expo is still seeking local STEM-related business to get involved by participating at the Expo. There is no cost to get involved. Parents are encouraged to get involved to assist with the organizing and planning for this year and at future Expo’s.
“On behalf of Mansfield Public Schools, I would like to express our appreciation to the numerous volunteers who have donated their time and energy in the past to make this event so successful and meaningful to our students,” said Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning Mike Connolly. “Thanks to the volunteers, we are able to promote interests in science, technology, engineering and math for our students. I look forward to working with familiar and new faces once again to put on this year’s Expo.”
Those interested in volunteering at the Expo may contact Event Organizer Mary Shannon at mansfieldstemexpo@gmail.com with any questions.
