WHITMAN — Superintendent Jeffrey Szymaniak is pleased to announce that the Louise A. Conley School has been awarded a substantial donation from North Easton Savings Bank to purchase Chromebooks for students in the school.

Dalia Cardosa, Assistant Vice President and Branch Officer of the Whitman branch of North Easton Savings Bank, presented Conley Principal Karen J. Downey with a check for $14,160 at the Conley’s all-school assembly on Friday, Dec. 20.

The school plans to use the money to purchase 60 new Chromebooks later this year, which will be used for classroom instruction for all students.

“The purchase of these Chromebooks will help the Conley School continue to advance its mission of providing a 21st-century education for our students,” Principal Downey said. “We are extremely grateful for this donation from North Easton Savings Bank and hope to continue this relationship for many years.”

The school has been working on a partnership with the bank since the start of this school year, when the bank sponsored a craft table at the first ever Conley School Family Fun Day. The bank supplied all the supplies for the table as well as volunteers to help students complete crafts with their families.

Following the check presentation, Cardosa spoke to Conley students about being good neighbors and fostering positive relationships in their lives. She told the students that she had heard about all the good things they do to help their community, such as making donations to the local food bank and working with charities that help children, and that the bank wanted to do something to support them.

“There was cheering, and yes, even a few tears, when Dalia turned the check around to display the amount,” Principal Downey said.
