HULL — Superintendent Michael F. Devine is pleased to announce that for the second straight year students at Hull High School came together to raise money for veterans in town.
On Wednesday, Jan. 22, the Hull High School’s boys’ varsity basketball team and the HHS National Honor Society held their second Veterans Appreciation Night.
Prior to the beginning of the game versus Pembroke High School, students, school staff and spectators honored three veterans in attendance, U.S. Coast Guard veteran Paul Sordillo, U.S. Navy veteran Kevin Beck and U.S. Army veteran Bill Hendrickson.
As part of the evening, students in the National Honor Society raffled off a $100 Visa Gift Card, with the proceeds benefiting the Veteran’s Council, which works to help veterans in need in the town of Hull.
Money raised from admission to the game was also donated, and the person who won the gift card raffle donated the gift card back to the Veteran’s Council.
Between the raffle, admission and gift card, a total of $486 was raised throughout the course of the evening.
“This has turned into a terrific event to honor and support veterans in our community,” Principal Nicole Nosek said. “I commend all of the students who worked hard to make the evening go smoothly, as well as those who came to the game to support the cause. And, of course, we all thank our veterans in the Town of Hull for their service to the nation.”
