Hampton Students Showcase Creativity at PTA Reflection Program

HAMPTON — Superintendent Kathleen Murphy is pleased to announce 18 students have been selected by the Hampton Parent Teachers Association (PTA) to submit their artwork to the statewide PTA Reflections program.

The national PTA Reflections program is designed to promote the arts among grade school students. Students must design their projects around a theme, this year’s being “Look Within.” Students in pre-K through eighth grade participate each year, creating works of art in a variety of areas including photography, dance, film, drawings, literary pieces, poetry and music.

Approximately 50 Hampton students submitted their artwork for consideration by the Hampton PTA on Tuesday, Jan. 7, which was showcased in an exhibit in the Hampton Academy library. The district holds a Reflections program exhibit each year.

“It’s a great event, I love going every year,” Superintendent Murphy said. “I’m absolutely impressed by the creativity and the insight that the students have around the theme.”

Families, school staff and faculty, and other members of the community came to view the work done by the students as well.

Members of the Hampton PTA reviewed each submission, selecting winners for each grade level and category. Dana Babyak, head of the Hampton PTA, coordinated the event.

Those chosen to showcase their work at the statewide PTA Reflection program were:

• Pre-K student William MacLeod.
• Kindergarten students Serenity MacLeod and Grace MacLeod.
• Second grader Max Bresnahan.
• Third grader Aidan MacLeod.
• Fourth graders Liam Bresnahan, Molly Ruffus, Morgan Hyvari, Sophia Parisi, Zoey Rickers and Christian MacLeod.
• Fifth grader Stella Finnegan.
• Sixth grader Anna Nadeau.
• Seventh graders Miranda Smedstad, Bella Taber and Hailey Duprey.
• Eighth graders Skyler Simard and Zahra Abdelhamid.

Winners will go on to showcase their work at the statewide PTA Reflection Program on March 11 at the Gilbert H. Hood Middle School, 5 Hood Road, Derry.
