ROCHESTER — Principal Christine Hebert is pleased to announce that the East Rochester School hosted its annual spelling bee today.

The school-wide bee, which featured the 10 students who won their individual classroom spelling bees last month, lasted for 26 rounds before fifth grader Brooke Moore emerged victorious. Fourth grader Nicholas Tapia was the runner-up.

Moore’s winning word, “blustery,” was included on a list of several words that the classroom winners — representatives from each class in grades one through five — was provided to study after they earned their spot in the school-wide event.

“We are proud of all of our spellers and would like to congratulate each of them on their hard work,” Reading Specialist Nicole Merrigan said.
