IPSWICH — Police Chief Paul Nikas and Fire Chief Andy Theriault report that the Ipswich Fire Department battled a fire on Eagle Hill Road in town this evening.
Firefighters arrived on scene after a 911 call came in at 7:57 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28 from the owner of a home at 2 Eagle Hill Road. Ipswich Police Officer Mark Ruggiero was the first to arrive on scene, and confirmed the fire at the home and that the home had been evacuated.
One occupant of the home and a dog made it out safely by the time police had arrived.
The fire damaged the interior, porch and deck of the home, and loss is set at approximately $75,000. The fire is said to have been accidental, likely caused by fireplace ashes reigniting in a disposal container.
No injuries occurred as a result of the fire.
Crews from the Topsfield and Rowley Fire Departments assisted.
