High School Girls Soccer Team Holds Two Successful Fundraisers

HULL — Superintendent Michael Devine is pleased to report that the Hull High School girls soccer program held two successful fundraisers during recent games. 

“Fundraising has always been a priority for the girls in the soccer program, and this year has been no different,” Athletic Director Scott Paine said. 

On Tuesday, Oct. 15 the girls held their cancer awareness game versus Sacred Heart High School and raised more than $2,300 for the fight against cancer. 

As part of the fundraiser, the team sells shirts online with messages such as, “Give Cancer the Boot.” The captains of the team organized the effort through the American Cancer Society. In addition to the shirts, entrance and snack shop sales at the game were also collected and sent to the American Cancer Society.

The following week, on Wednesday, Oct. 23, the team held their annual EM20 fundraiser against Carver High School, which featured a 50/50 raffle and bake sale. 

The combination of the girls soccer players and adult volunteers raised close to $3,000 for the Emma Ryan Memorial Fund, a nonprofit organization founded to honor former Hull High School soccer player Emma Ryan, a 15-year-old from Hull who died unexpectedly on Oct. 29, 2016.

The funds raised will to go toward multiple scholarships funded by the organization.

The Ryan family also sells shirts leading up to the game and at the game, making it a collaborative effort with the Ryan family and the girls soccer team.

“The girls soccer program takes their fundraising very seriously, and they do a great job each year,” Coach Stewart Bell said. “The community has shown terrific support for each of these two very important causes.”

Both the cancer awareness and EM20 fundraisers have been held each of the past three years.
