Burlington Police Department investigating Overnight Shooting

Incident Not Believed to be Random

BURLINGTON – Chief Michael R. Kent reports that the Burlington Police Department is investigating an overnight shooting that left a man with serious injuries.

Burlington Police and Fire were called to a residence on McCafferty Way shortly after midnight on Tuesday for a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, first responders found a man inside the residence attempting to care for wounds to his back, lower abdomen and upper legs. The victim, a 20-year-old Burlington man, was transported by the Burlington Fire Department to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center with injuries that are considered serious but not believed to be life-threatening.

The ongoing investigation by the Burlington Police Department and the State Police Crime Scene Unit indicates that the victim had been shot in the parking lot of the American Legion Post on Winn Street after the victim met with two men at an undetermined location.

The facts and circumstances of the incident are under investigation by Burlington Police Detectives. At this time, police do not believe this was a random act, and there is no danger to the community. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call the Burlington Police Department at 781-272-1212 or through the anonymous tip line at 781-505-1111.
