Acton and Boxborough Earn Approval for Shared Veterans’ Services District
ACTON — Acton Town Manager John Mangiaratti is pleased to announce that the Town of Acton earned state approval to establish a veterans’ services district in partnership with the Town of Boxborough.
The new Acton-Boxborough Veterans’ Services District will be overseen by District Director James MacRae, who had previously served as Acton’s Veterans’ Services Officer.
“I’m very excited at this new opportunity to serve Veterans and surviving spouses on an even broader scale within our community, connecting them with the benefits they’ve earned through their service and sacrifice,” MacRae said. “I’m looking forward to getting to know the veterans in Boxborough the way I have in Acton, and helping to address some of the issues they encounter.”
In his new role, MacRae will serve as a resource for veterans and surviving family members in Acton and Boxborough and will provide a direct link to the state and federal benefits to which they are entitled. MacRae will also work with veterans and family members to understand their eligibility for benefits, including financial, medical and other dedicated supports.
“Having James as a shared resource between our two communities will ultimately enhance the level of service our towns provide to our veterans,” Town Manager Mangiaratti said. “I’m looking forward to this unified approach and the positive impact it will have on residents in both Acton and Boxborough.”
Boxborough Town Administrator Ryan Ferrara added, “The Town of Boxborough views the opportunity to partner with Acton on a new Veterans’ Service District as a means to enhance services to our community’s veterans. James has a wealth of experience which will ensure Boxborough veterans will be provided with the support they have earned through their service to our country. This collaborative initiative is yet another example of Acton and Boxborough partnering to efficiently provide improved services to our residents.”
