City of Rochester Hosting Informational Session on Invasive Forest Pests

ROCHESTER — City Manager Blaine Cox and Chief Planner Seth Creighton invite residents to an upcoming presentation on the invasive Emerald ash borer.

Emerald ash borer was first detected in New Hampshire in 2013, and has since had its presence confirmed in 40 towns in five counties throughout the state. The insect is widely considered to be the most destructive forest pest in North America, and is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of millions of ash trees in the eastern U.S.

The City of Rochester invites residents to a presentation on the insect, which will highlight methods for identifying infested trees, as well as best management practices. The event will be held on Wednesday, April 24, at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

The workshop is being conducted in partnership with the University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension, the New Hampshire division of Forests and Lands and the New Hampshire Department Agriculture, Markets and Food.
