Woburn Teacher Placed on Leave

WOBURN — Superintendent of Schools Matthew Crowley reports that a Woburn Public Schools teacher has been placed on leave.

On Wednesday, March 13, Superintendent Crowley was informed of alleged misconduct by a staff member. In response to this information, the Woburn Public Schools immediately placed the staff member on paid administrative leave. The joint investigation by Woburn Police and the school uncovered alleged drug possession on school property. This matter did not involve students and there is no reason to believe that any pupils were placed in the way of harm as a result of this misconduct.

“Due to the fact that this is an ongoing investigation involving a personnel issue, we are not at liberty to discuss any further details,” Superintendent Crowley said. “However please know that we take allegations of any alleged wrongdoing seriously, and our priority is always on providing students with a safe and appropriate educational environment.”

The Woburn Police Department and its school resource officer conducted an investigation, and the determination was made that this was an administrative/employment matter.
