Regional SWAT Team Assists in Multi-Jurisdictional Investigation in Maynard
Two Suspects in Custody, Firearm Recovered
MAYNARD — Chief Mark W. Dubois reports that increased police activity in Maynard on Thursday morning was due to an ongoing, multi-jurisdictional investigation that resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of at least one firearm.
The home at 1 Acton Court remains secured at this time, as officers seek to follow proper procedures for a search of the premises.
Authorities from Maynard Police, the Massachusetts State Police and the ATF responded at 7:15 a.m. with assistance from the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) SWAT Team to serve a high-risk warrant at the Acton Court address.
The need for the specialized training and abilities of a SWAT team was demonstrated by information garnered during the investigation that indicated the possible presence of firearms in the home. Two males, one adult and one teenage juvenile were taken into custody, and one firearm was recovered during the initial investigation.
No one was injured in the operation, and the SWAT team cleared the scene shortly before 1 p.m.
“We are very fortunate to have such amazing law enforcement partners in Massachusetts, including our local ATF branch, the state police, and the highly trained municipal police officers that make up the NEMLEC SWAT team,” Chief Dubois said. “Thanks to an efficient and orderly operation today, two dangerous suspects have been taken into custody.”
This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Additional information about the investigation, suspects and any possible charges will be released as soon as it becomes available.
