Lynnfield Center Water District to Restore Previous Billing Rates

LYNNFIELD — The Lynnfield Center Water District announces that it will roll back its water rates to their previous levels and issue new bills to all rate payers.

The Board of Commissioners announced last summer that it would raise water rates following a recommendation that they do so by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. However, the board decided last night that it would roll back rates and reconsider a different rate increase at a later date.

Any customers who have already paid the bills they were issued with the new rates will ultimately receive either a refund or a credit on a future bill for the amount they overpaid. New bills will be issued to all customers by Feb. 28.

Any customers who have already paid their November/December bills should not submit payment again, but should expect either a refund or a credit for the difference between their initial bill and the new one. New bills will be issued with a due date of March 31.

The District will return any uncashed checks it has received during the most recent billing cycle.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we want to ensure that the rates our customers are paying are both fair and equitable,” Board of Commissioners Chair Constance Leccese said.
