Dunstable Police Host Shop with a Cop Event for Local Children

DUNSTABLE — Chief James Dow is pleased to announce that the Dunstable Police Department, in conjunction with the Groton Police Department, hosted its fourth annual Shop with a Cop event last week.

On Dec. 7, through a partnership with the Groton-Dunstable School District, officers took eight children from the Swallow Union Elementary School in Dunstable and Florence Roche Elementary School in Groton on a holiday shopping trip. School administrators chose participating students based on financial need.

Participating officers included Chief Dow, Sgt. Nick Papageorgiou (Dunstable Police), Sgt. Rachael Mead (Groton Police), Officer Timothy Ialeggio (Dunstable Police), School Resource Officer Peter Breslin (Groton Police), Officer Gregory Steward (Groton Police) and Officer Charles Chaprales (Dunstable Police).

To start off the excursion, officers brought students to Red Robin in Nashua for lunch and ice cream shakes, and then proceeded down the road to Target to shop.

Each student was able to pick out several presents for family members to help celebrate the holidays.

To round out the event, Santa made a special visit to the children, who were able to share some of the items on their Christmas lists.

Dunstable Police would like to thank its gracious sponsors of the event: The Dunstable Police Union, Groton Patrolman’s Association, Groton Superior Officer’s Association, community members and Target.

“This event marked another amazing trip for students and for officers, who said this was the best part of their year,” Chief Dow said. “We want to sincerely thank our sponsors who made this holiday event possible for children in need.”
