Chelmsford Police to Continue Tradition of Hosting Fill-A-Cruiser Event to Benefit Toys For Tots

CHELMSFORD — Chief James M. Spinney is pleased to announce that the Chelmsford Police Department will once again host a Fill-A-Cruiser event to benefit Toys for Tots.

WHEN

All day Saturday, Dec. 8, starting at 9 a.m.

WHERE

Walmart, 66 Parkhurst Road

WHAT

The Chelmsford Police Department invites the community to fill one of its cruisers with gifts to benefit Toys for Tots, and provide kids in need with gifts of their own this holiday season.

Chelmsford Police collected approximately 1,600 toys in 2017 and Sgt. Stephen Fredericks will camp out at Walmart at least until they’ve reached this year’s goal of 2,000 toys.

Residents are asked to contribute new, unwrapped toys for children ages infant to 16.

“Our community has continuously contributed this great cause and helped make the holidays fun and memorable for kids who otherwise might go without,” Chief Spinney said. “I’m grateful for Sgt. Fredericks’ steadfast commitment to this effort, and for the generous support of Walmart and Starbucks that makes this event possible.”

There will be free hot chocolate available throughout the event, courtesy of Starbucks. This year, Walmart has provided a grant to help provide even more toys for the drive.

Toys for Tots was founded by the U.S. Marine Corps in 1947 to donate toys to kids who are less fortunate during the holiday season.
