Town of Andover to Debut Monthly First Friday’s Event This Week

ANDOVER — The Town of Andover is pleased to announce a new monthly event that will take place in Downtown Andover on a monthly basis beginning this week.

Downtown Andover’s First Fridays will kick off on Friday, Nov. 2 at Old Town Hall, 20 Main St., from 6 – 8 PM.

Andover’s First Fridays are a free, family friendly event that will showcase local music, arts, culture, non-profits, and beyond.  Downtown Andover is rich with shopping, dining and service destinations. Head down for dinner and shopping before or after the event and check out all that Andover has to offer.  

“We are excited to offer this new monthly event, especially at this time in our community, and give our residents and business community a chance to connect and enjoy a free, fun event,” Town Manager Andrew Flanagan said. “We look forwarding to celebrating or downtown’s critical role in our local economy.”  

All First Friday events are free and open to the public.

The inaugural First Friday event will feature the musical accompaniment of local favorite, The Jazz Disciples. Started at South Church in Andover in 2008 as the result of a mission trip to the devastated post-Hurricane Katrina south land, The Jazz Disciples initially came together as a quintet to play Dixieland jazz songs for the church as part of their observances.  The joy and melancholy of that music helped to keep the spirit alive for the congregants as they kept the wonderful experience of helping the south recover near to their hearts.
