Lynnfield Center Water District Invites Residents to Information Session on Infrastructure Upgrade Plans

LYNNFIELD — Superintendent Kenneth Burnham wishes to invite Lynnfield residents to attend an information session on the Lynnfield Center Water District’s plans for a water treatment plant.

WHEN:

Monday, Oct. 22, at 6:30 p.m.

WHERE:

Lynnfield Middle School, 505 Main St.

WHAT:

The LCWD Board of Water Commissioners will host a final informational session for residents next week, where it will outline its plans for a new water treatment plant.

Residents will have an opportunity to learn about the LCWD system and collect information on the critical infrastructure work the department intends to undertake pending the approval of the community at-large.

“We’re looking forward to working collaboratively with the community to pursue lasting solution to our infrastructure needs,” Superintendent Burnham said. “I encourage residents to join us to learn more about the options we have available to us to enhance our service in a way that’s both fiscally responsible and sustainable.”

The Board has identified a greensand water filtration plant as the most effective and efficient option for upgrading the district’s water system, and will share information with residents about how the new system would impact customers. Greensand filters provide targeted treatment of iron and managese that are naturally occurring in groundwater systems like Lynnfield Center’s.

Monday’s session will serve as the final informational meeting on the project, as the LCWD works through an approval process that will culminate with a vote at a Special District Meeting in December.
