Easton Police Charge Man with Second OUI Offense Following Crash

EASTON — Chief Gary Sullivan reports that the Easton Police Department arrested and charged a man with his second OUI offense following a crash on Saturday.

THOMAS GALLAGHER, AGE 39, OF WALTHAM was charged with:

  • OUI Liquor, Second Offense
  • Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Failure to Yield to Oncoming Traffic

At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 6, Easton Police officers responded to a two-vehicle head-on crash at 370 Depot St. (Route 123).

Upon arrival, officers discovered that an Infinity sedan had struck a GMC pickup truck.

Both operators were evaluated by the Easton Fire Department and were uninjured.

The operator of the Infinity, later identified as GALLAGHER, had been traveling eastbound on Depot Street and turned into the westbound lane, allegedly striking the GMC pickup truck.

Through the subsequent investigation it was determined that GALLAGHER was driving under the influence of alcohol and he was placed under arrest.

GALLAGHER was booked at the Easton Police Department and bail was set at $540.  He was later transported to the New Bedford House of Correction and is scheduled to be arraigned in Taunton District Court today.

These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
