Ipswich Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash

IPSWICH — Chief Paul Nikas reports that the Ipswich Police Department is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred this evening.

At 5:12 p.m., Ipswich Police received a report of a motorcycle off the road on Boxford Road.

Upon arrival, police were met by the reporting party, an off-duty Boxford paramedic, along with paramedics from Action Ambulance, who were performing CPR on a 74-year-old Florida man.

The victim was transported via ambulance to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

An on-scene investigation indicates that the man was driving a Harley Davidson trike motorcycle when he drove off the road and struck a tree.

This is an active investigation being conducted by the Ipswich Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, however police believe speed played a factor in the crash.

The identity of the 74-year-old man is being withheld at this time pending next of kin notification.
