GLOUCESTER — Chief Eric Smith reports that Gloucester firefighters extinguished a fire on Gull Lane this morning.

At 9:26 a.m., the Gloucester Fire Department was dispatched to a report of smoke at 10 Gull Lane. Upon arrival, firefighters worked quickly to contain and extinguish the fire near its area of origin.

Two residents were home at the time of the fire and escaped the home and called 911 after noticing smoke. There were no injuries.

Gloucester Fire Rehab 5 and Beauport EMS provided support to the two Gloucester Fire engines on scene, while a Rockport Fire Department engine provided station coverage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
