GLTS to Open Doors to Students Affected by Weekend Gas Emergency
Classes Cancelled Monday, but Students Invited to Spend Time Together at School
ANDOVER — Greater Lawrence Technical School Superintendent John Lavoie reports that the school will not hold classes Monday, but will open its doors to students from GLTS and Lawrence High School following the Merrimack Valley gas emergency.
School staff will be on hand to supervise students who would like to visit with friends in an or teachers in an informal environment, watch a move in the Performing Arts Center, eat lunch in the cafeteria, use the locker rooms to take a hot shower or have their uniforms washed. The building will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. tomorrow to accommodate students.
There will be no school buses running tomorrow, but the Merrimack Valley Regional Transit Authority will provide free rides for students coming to GLTS.
“This is an extraordinarily difficult time for our entire community, and we want to set aside the time for students from both GLTS and Lawrence High School to spend time together, access the resources they need and regroup after this crisis,” Superintendent Lavoie said. “We’re also working to understand what direct impact this incident has had on our students, and offer whatever support we can.”
