*UPDATED* Bedford Street in Middleborough Reopened

Bedford Street in Middleborough Reopened

MIDDLEBOROUGH — Fire Chief Lance Benjamino and Police Chief Joseph Perkins report that Bedford Street (Route 18) has been reopened while firefighters still work to extinguish a fire at a junkyard Thursday morning.

Bedford Street was reopened at approximately 11:15 a.m. after being closed from Old Center Street to the Middleborough rotary.

At approximately 9:30 a.m., first responders were notified of a fire at Zion’s Auto Parts, 128 Bedford St.

When firefighters arrived, they found a large pile of scrap metal and tires that was on fire. The debris pile is about 100 yards long.

A second alarm was struck and fire departments from Bridgewater and Lakeville responded to assist.
