Canton Fire Department Receives Donation of Smoke Detectors and Carbon Monoxide Detectors

CANTON – Chief Charles Doody is pleased to announce that the Canton Fire Department received dozens of smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors today that were donated by the fire safety product manufacturer Kidde.

The donations were part of the Operation Save a Life campaign sponsored by Kidde, WCVB and The Home Depot. The devices were presented to representatives of several local fire departments at WCVB’s headquarters in Needham.

Lt. Tom Norton accepted 50 smoke detectors and 20 carbon monoxide detectors on behalf of the Canton Fire Department. The devices will be given to elderly residents and those in need on a case-by-case basis.

“We want to thank Kidde for their generous donation today,” Chief Doody said. “We try to assist elderly and disabled residents who have old smoke detectors in their homes and replace them when we come across them. These new devices will go a long way in helping keep our residents safe.”
