Rockland Firefighter Recruit Begins Training at Massachusetts Fire Academy

ROCKLAND — Chief Scott Duffey is pleased to announce that Rockland Firefighter Recruit Joshua Landry began his training at the Massachusetts Fire Academy this week.

Firefighter Recruit Landry, age 24, of Rocklandbegan his first day at the academy in Stow on Monday, where he will be in the Career Recruit Firefighter Training Program for the next 11 weeks.

Firefighter Recruit Landry has previous experience as a wildland firefighter in Arizona and also worked as an emergency medical technician and paramedic for a local ambulance company.

“We wish Josh luck in the academy and know that he will undergo vital training toward his goal of becoming a full-time firefighter with the Rockland Fire Department,” Chief Duffey said.

Recruits who successfully complete the academy training will receive their Firefighter I/II certification.
