Newport Police Respond to Single Car Crash

NEWPORT, VERMONT — Chief Seth C. DiSanto reports that the Newport Police Department responded following a motor vehicle crash on Lake Road yesterday.

On Sunday, July 8, at 7:43 p.m., Newport Police responded to a report of a single car crash in the area of 579 Lake Road. Upon arrival, first responders observed a Chevy Silverado that had come to rest in a ditch alongside the road.

Newport Ambulance Service and the Newport Fire Department also responded to the scene.

The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle, Derick Lay, 28, of Newport, was not injured in the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Newport Police Department.
