Andover’s Director of Veteran Services Honored With Industry Award
ANDOVER — Town Manager Andrew P. Flanagan is pleased to announce that Director of Veteran Services Alicia Marie Reddin has been honored as the top veteran service officer (VSO) in Massachusetts.
Reddin was recognized with the Massachusetts Veterans Service Officers Association’s Inside Award at a ceremony on Tuesday, June 19. The award is presented each year to the municipal veteran service officer who is identified as the most effective within their role.
After joining the MVSOA as its secretary and treasurer in 2016, Reddin helped the organization grow from one operating with a $2,000 deficit to earning a $1,500 operating profit in her first year. With those profits, the organization reinvests in numerous outreach initiatives benefitting the state’s veterans
Reddin has also reorganized MVSOA’s training program and created more dynamic and engaging content while providing data to its membership in order to ensure that training remains relevant.
“Alicia is truly dedicated to ensuring that veterans in our community are connected with the resources they have earned,” Flanagan said. “I’m enormously proud of the work she’s done, both for veterans in our community and for those throughout the commonwealth through MVSOA, and she is extremely deserving of this honor.”
Reddin, a Navy veteran, joined the Town of Andover as its director of veteran services in March after previously working as a veterans service officer in Melrose, Wakefield and Saugus.
