Raynham Fire and Police Departments Respond to Crash on Route 44

RAYNHAM — Police Chief James Donovan and Fire Chief James Januse report that the Rayham Police and Fire departments responded to a crash on Route 44 Thursday night.

At approximately 5 p.m., rescuers responded to the area of 1705 New State Highway, Route 44, for a report of a two-vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, police and firefighters found that a 2005 Dodge Caravan and a 2015 Cadillac Escalade had collided. The Dodge went off the road and came to rest in a nearby wooded area.

The driver, and sole occupant, of the Dodge was an 82-year-old Middleborough man. The driver, and sole occupant, of the Cadillac was a 62-year-old Raynham man.

Firefighters had to use hydraulic extrication tools to get both men out of their respective vehicles safely.

They were both injured and transported by ambulance to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Route 44 was closed on both sides by police while the drivers were being treated and the crash was being investigated. The road was reopened at approximately 5:45 p.m. after the scene was cleared.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by Raynham Police.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call the Raynham Police Department at 508-824-2716.
