Canton Fire Department Urges Residents to Sign Up for Emergency Alerts Ahead of Hurricane Season

CANTON —  Fire Chief and Emergency Management Director Charles Doody urges those who live or work in Canton to sign up for the town’s emergency alert system now that hurricane season is officially underway.

While tropical storms and hurricanes are more common in August and September, the storm season began on June 1, and can strike with potentially devastating impacts at any time.

Canton’s Emergency Alert Program is the official emergency notification system used by the town to communicate with residents and business owners during a broad range of emergencies.

The system provides updates in all sorts of emergency situations — including evacuation orders, flooding advisories or lockdown situations — as well as information about parking bans, road closures, traffic alerts and other need-to-know information.

“Because we use the system to notify residents of impending or active emergencies, it is important that they register so that all family members can be notified regardless of their location,” Chief Doody said.

You can sign up for the alerts by clicking hereIf you have any questions please call the Canton Fire Department at 781-821-5095.
