Rowley Police and Fire Respond after Man is Struck by Tree

ROWLEY — Police Chief Scott A. Dumas and Fire Chief James C. Broderick report that the Rowley Police and Fire Departments responded after a tree fell on a resident this morning.

Rescuers responded to a residence on Main Street at 11:18 a.m. for a report of a tree that had fallen on a man as the tree was in the process of being cut down.

The victim, an 81-year-old Rowley man was taken by medical helicopter to a Boston Hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was assisting a neighbor cut down a tree on the neighbor’s property.

The incident is under investigation by the Rowley Police Department and State Police Detectives assigned to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.
