Andover Schools Announce Learn to Work Open House

ANDOVER — Superintendent Sheldon Berman is pleased to announce that the Andover Public Schools will participate in a Learn to Work Program open house hosted by Pfizer next month.

WHEN:

Wednesday, May 9 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

WHERE:

1 Burtt Road, Andover

WHAT:

The Andover Public Schools and Pfizer invite high school and college administrators, business leaders, state service organizations and advocacy groups to learn more about the Learn to Work program, and how they can participate or develop similar programs in their own communities.

Developed through a collaboration between Pfizer and Andover High School administrators in 2014, Learn to Work aims to prepare students with disabilities for life after school while teaching them how to be independent.

Through Learn to Work, students get hands on experience obtaining job skills in a professional environment, including navigating office hierarchies, fostering professional relationships and workplace dynamics.

The program begins in high school and exposes students to workplace teaching and task-oriented skills, which help to prepare them to thrive in a work environment and to live independently as they get older.

Those interested in attending should contact Learn to Work Program Lead Tricia MacDonald at tricia.macdonald@pfizer.com.
