Avon Public Schools Superintendent Departing, Will Lead King Philip Regional School District

Assistant Superintendent Christine Godino Will Become Superintendent

AVON — The Avon Public Schools District announces that Superintendent Paul Zinni will be stepping down to take over as the head of the King Philip Regional School District. Assistant Superintendent Christine Godino has been named as his successor.

“I have truly enjoyed working in Avon Public Schools for the past 17 years, including the last four years as superintendent. I will miss the students and staff tremendously and cherish the great memories we have made here,” Superintendent Zinni said. “I have also had the privilege of working alongside Ms. Godino throughout my time as superintendent and I know that the district will be in excellent hands.”

Superintendent Zinni will remain on the job until the end of the school year and will then hand over duties to Assistant Superintendent Godino on July 1.

“While I am sad to see Mr. Zinni leave, I am thankful for being able to work with him over the years,” Assistant Superintendent Godino said. “I am honored to be chosen to lead the district and I am looking forward to working with a staff that always has and will continue to put the children and their education first.”

Assistant Superintendent Godino began her career in education in 2000 as a special education teacher with the Marshfield Public Schools. From 2000-2010 she also worked in Marshfield as a first grade teacher and autism specialist.

From 2010-2013 she was the Director of Pupil Personnel Services for the Holbrook Public Schools.

In August 2013, she was hired by Superintendent Zinni as the Director of Pupil Services and later had her title changed to Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Services.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Bridgewater State College where she majored in special education and minored in history. She earned her Masters of Education degree from Fitchburg State College and also holds a certificate of Advance Graduate Studies from the school.

“We would like to thank Paul for his 17 years of service in Avon, and we wish him well in his new endeavor,” Avon School Committee Chair Tracy Sheehan said. “We expect a very smooth transition as Mr. Zinni and Ms. Godino have worked so well together throughout the years. We are confident that Ms. Godino will continue the positive trajectory the district has been on and believe she is the best person for the job.”

The Avon Public School District includes the Butler Elementary School and the Avon Middle High School, which includes about 730 students and 100 staff.

The King Phillip Regional School District is based in Norfolk and serves more than 2,000 students in grades 7-12 from Norfolk, Plainville and Wrentham.
