Burlington Police Seek New Leads on Anniversary of Hit and Run Death

BURLINGTON, Mass. — Chief Michael R. Kent reports that the Burlington Police Department is seeking new, reliable tips on the 35th anniversary of a hit and run crash that killed a 24-year-old Burlington man.

Just after midnight on Feb. 26,1983, George Aleskivitch was struck by a vehicle on Winn Street at the on-ramp to Route 128.

Witnesses reported that a burgundy colored car, possibly an early 1980’s model Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, struck Aleskivitch and dragged him for approximately 60 feet before driving away onto the northbound ramp of Route 128.

Police believe the car likely sustained significant front-end damage and could have had up to four people in the car at the time of the incident.

“There are likely multiple people out there who either know who did this or have information that could lead us to who did this,” Chief Kent said. “We hope that by releasing these updated sketches and drawing attention back to this case, someone will be encouraged to come forward and finally bring this case to a close and give this family some closure.”

Anyone with information about the hit and run death of Aleskivitch should call Burlington Police at 781-270-1921.
