Whitman Fire Lieutenant Graduates from Fire Officer Management Training Program

Whitman Fire Lieutenant Graduates from Fire Officer Management Training Program

WHITMAN — Chief Timothy J. Grenno is pleased to announce that Whitman Fire Lt. Tim Clancy graduated from the 25th Massachusetts Firefighting Academy’s Chief Fire Officer Management Training Program today.

Lt. Clancy was one of 36 fire service members to graduate from the program during a ceremony at the Department of Fire Services headquarters in Stow.

The intensive 14-week program provided training in several aspects of leading and managing fire departments, including human resource management, ethics, executive leadership, legal issues, governmental and organizational structures, budgets and public finance, community awareness and labor relations.

Lt. Clancy is the shift commander for Group 1. He holds a master’s degree in fire science, and at the end of last year, he received the following certifications from the Department of Fire Services Massachusetts Training Council and the National Fire Academy:

  • Fire Officer II
  • Data Gathering Instruments to Support Applied Research Projects
  • Designing an Applied Research Project Proposal

“Lt. Clancy is an asset to our department and as the shift commander for Group 1 he has shown tremendous leadership capabilities,” Chief Grenno said. “The skills he’s gained from this course will certainly benefit our department and community.”

The communities represented by other graduates in the class included: Amesbury, Andover, Ashland, Bellingham, Belmont, Berlin, Bourne, Cambridge, Centerville-Osterville-Marston Mills, Chatham, Chicopee, Dartmouth District #3, Fitchburg, Foxborough, Franklin, Kingston, Ludlow, Malden, Natick, Plainville, Randolph, Rockland, Saugus, Shrewsbury, Southborough, Stoughton, Stow, Walpole, Wareham, Wayland, Weston, Weymouth and Wrentham.
