STOUGHTON – Superintendent Marguerite Rizzi is pleased to announce that five Stoughton High School students recently attended the first annual “DECA Day on the Hill,” where they met their state legislators and discussed important issues to related to their community.
Stoughton DECA is a high school business club. The group is part of a larger network of over 215,000 high school students around the world. DECA prepares young leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges globally.
DECA Day on the Hill was attended by over 150 DECA members from across the state on Nov. 15.
“This was a great opportunity for some of our students to visit the State House and meet their local politicians on a more personal level,” Superintendent Rizzi said. “Hopefully next year we can attract even more students to attend this great event.”
The five Stoughton High students who attended were Rolisha Louis, Trisania Kerr, Kaitlyn Costeira, Mia Greene, Kiana Mills. They were greeted by State Representative Shaunna O’Connell, who commended the students on their strong commitment to DECA.
Lt. Governor Karyn Polito, DECA Advisor Donna McFaden and National DECA President Jaron May were also in attendance.
State representatives William C. Galvin and Louis L. Kafka recognized the five students for their involvement in the program and told them about how the state legislature operates.
The students were presented with a formal certificate signed by State Rep. Kafka, State Rep. Galvin and Speaker of the House Robert A. Deleo.
