Hull High School Celebrates Student Athletes’ Accomplishments
HULL — Superintendent Michael Devine would like to praise student athletes and coaches for their work this season.
The girls soccer team won the South Shore League Tobin Division Championship, qualified for the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association tournament and reached the south sectional semi-finals.
Sophomore Lauren Anastos, forward, earned the title of South Shore League Player of the Year for soccer, became an Eastern Massachusetts Soccer Coaches Association All-Star and was recently selected to the 2017 Patriot Ledger All-Scholastic team.
Additionally, girls soccer players senior Hannah Diemer, defense, sophomore Christina Murphy, midfield, sophomore Shelby Craig, defense, sophomore Hannah Duran, forward, and senior Hannah Diemer, defense, were named South Shore League All-Stars. Freshman Max Iorio, forward, from the boys soccer team also took home a South Shore League All-Star title.
Stew Bell, who has been teaching at Hull High School for 19 years and coaching soccer for 18 years (17 as the varsity coach), was named the South Shore League Girls Soccer Coach of the Year.
The football team qualified for the MIAA play-offs and the cheerleading team made it to their regional competition. Seniors and running backs Christian Olivieri and Jake Peters were the South Shore League Football All-Stars, while seniors Olivia Smith and Shea Burke were the South Shore League Cheerleading All-Stars.
Mike O’Donnell was named South Shore League Football Coach of the Year. O’Donnell has been teaching at Hull High School for 17 years and coaching a sport 26 years — this year marking his first as the head varsity football coach.
To close out their season, the boys cross country team won the South Shore League Tobin Division Championship.
“I want to congratulate all teams for their accomplishments thus far in the school year, especially to our players and coaches who earned All-Star recognition!,” Superintendent Devine said.
