Chelmsford Police Arrest Man for 7th OUI Offense Following Crash

CHELMSFORD — Police Chief James M. Spinney reports that the Chelmsford Police Department have charged a man with his seventh OUI offense following a crash Friday morning, Dec. 1.

At approximately 9:57 a.m. a Chelmsford Police officer, on routine patrol, came upon a 1980 red Chevrolet Corvette that had struck a mailbox and utility pole near 181 Concord Road.

The driver, FRANCIS HARRISON, AGE 59, OF CHELMSFORD, was charged with:

  • OUI, fifth or subsequent offense
  • Driving negligently so as to endanger
  • Speeding
  • Seatbelt violation
  • Marked lanes violation

HARRISON suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lowell General Hospital.

The utility pole was snapped at its base and the vehicle sustained heavy damage.

During the course of the investigation it was determined that HARRISON was driving while intoxicated. He refused a blood test at the hospital.

HARRISON’S license was confiscated and the Registry of Motor Vehicles was notified of the new charges and have suspended his license.
