Rochester Government Channel Adds Live Streaming of Meetings

ROCHESTER — City Manager Daniel Fitzpatrick is pleased to announce that the Rochester Government Channel now offers live streaming of meetings online.

“We are very happy to add this service for the public as a way for our residents to remain engaged with with the city,” Government Channel Coordinator Celeste Plaia said. “There has been strong demand for live streaming capability, and I expect that this will be a valuable resource for the city.”

Viewership of archived meetings has climbed steadily over the the course of several years, and the city is eager to provide citizens in the city and beyond with a way to stay up to date on city affairs.

While there is no mobile app, the city’s website is mobile friendly, enabling users to easily view both live and archived meetings from their tablets or smartphones. Any meeting that is broadcast live on the government cable channel — Metrocast channel 26 — will be simulcast online.

The live streaming function was bundled with the channel’s existing video on demand archive feature and is hosted on a third-party server, eliminating any enhanced stress on the city’s bandwidth or internet and making it relatively maintenance free for city staff.

To view meetings live online, go to www.rochesternh.net/rochester-government-channel and follow the instructions provided.
