Bridgewater Police and Fire Departments Provide Update on Halloween Festivities Following Weekend Storm
BRIDGEWATER — Police Chief Christopher D. Delmonte and Fire Chief Thomas Levy report that trick-or-treating will go on tonight as scheduled, though families are asked to go out only in areas that have power.
Crews from National Grid and Columbia Gas are actively working throughout town to restore power and gas utilities to all residents, but service is expected to remain inconsistent throughout the evening. As a result, Chief Delmonte and Chief Levy urge trick-or-treaters to avoid streets that do not have adequate lighting.
Trick-or-treaters are urged to wear reflective clothing and use flashlights, and be cautious in dark areas.
“We hope that families will exercise caution tonight while they are out enjoying Halloween,” Chief Delmonte said. “Children will be able to celebrate Halloween tonight, but it’s essential that trick-or-treaters only go out in areas that have power and are well-lit.”
“It’s fortunate that this storm did not require trick-or-treating to be postponed,” Chief Levy said. “However, we want to emphasize the importance of remaining careful and exercising common sense when choosing an area of town to celebrate tonight.”
Motorists should be alert and on the lookout for children in all parts of town this evening, and be aware that Bridgewater Police will be strictly enforcing speed limits.
