Press Invited to Tomorrow’s Middlesex Partnerships for Youth School Attendance Summit

LEXINGTON — Margie Daniels, executive director of Middlesex Partnerships for Youth Inc. is pleased to invite the news media to cover a summit bringing together more than 100 top educational, mental health and law enforcement leaders from across northeastern Massachusetts who will share ideas and best practices to increase school attendance.

The speaking programs consist of a who’s who is educational and youth services leaders in Massachusetts, including:

WHAT:

Speaking programs will include ways to improve collaboration within a school, how to use the Department of Children and Families as a resource, and how to respond to adverse childhood experiences including abuse and death in the family.

A delegation from the Lowell Public Schools will, at 9:30 a.m. present an effective and innovative program called Helping Students Stay the Course, a school and community partnership to reduce excessive absenteeism and truancy in a large urban school district. — led by Deputy Superintendent Jeannine Durkin.

School attendance is a vital youth safety issue statewide and is a chief concern among youth services agencies across the nation. Speakers and Middlesex Partnerships for Youth leaders will be available for interviews.
