Burlington Overcoming Addiction To Host Vigil On The Common

BURLINGTON — Chief Michael Kent announces that Burlington Overcoming Addiction will host a vigil next week in memory of those whose lives were lost due to drug addiction.

WHO

Burlington Overcoming Addiction

WHEN

Thursday, Sept. 28, from 6:30-8 p.m.

WHERE

Burlington Town Common

WHAT

Residents are invited to participate in a vigil honoring Joe Reardon, who passed away last December at the age of 34 after a long battle with addiction, as well as others whose lives were cut short by the impacts of drug addiction.

Those interested in participating in the vigil are asked to arrive by 6:30 p.m. next Thursday in order to submit any names they’d like read aloud at the ceremony. Those who would like to honor the memory of a loved one may also email that person’s name ahead of time to joemattered@gmail.com.

“Addiction is a disease that impacts every community, and it’s something that can only be overcome with a strong support system,” Chief Kent said. “I hope that residents will join us to pay our respects to those we’ve lost to addiction, and to support those still enduring the fight to overcome it.”
