Concord Police Offer Tips On Donating To Harvey Victims

CONCORD — As the people of southeast Texas continue to reel from the impact of Tropical Storm Harvey, Chief Joseph O’Connor encourages residents to be cautious about donating to organizations pledging to aid the relief effort.

“We all want to support the people of Texas any way we can during this disaster,” Chief O’Connor said. “However, it is important to be wary of predators and criminals who may seek to capitalize on the tragedy by misrepresenting themselves as relief organizations.”

While there have been no known incidents of residents falling victim to storm-related scams, the Concord Police — out of an abundance of caution — are asking residents to be cautious of any solicitations for donations they may receive from unfamiliar organizations.

The Concord Police do not endorse one charity over another, but want residents to confirm that they are only donating to legitimate charities so their donations will be used to help storm victims.
