Rochester Fire Department Extinguishes House Fire
ROCHESTER — Interim Chief Mark Dupuis reports that the Rochester Fire Department extinguished a residential basement fire this morning.
At approximately 10:26 a.m., the Rochester Fire Department responded to a home on Hilton Lane for a report of smoke coming from the basement.

Engines 3 and 5, and Truck 1 responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke coming from the basement of the home and made an interior attack. All occupants of the home had safely evacuated prior to the fire department’s arrival.
Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire, which originated in the boiler room in the basement. The home has smoke damage throughout, but fire and water damage are confined to the basement area.
No injuries were reported. Residents are staying with family while repairs are made to the home.
“Firefighters did an excellent job of quickly extinguishing this fire to prevent any further damage to the rest of the home,” Interim Chief Dupuis said. “Thankfully, no one was injured as a result of this incident.”
The cause of the fire remains under active investigation by the Rochester Fire Department.
