Maynard Fire Department Extinguishes Shed Fire Caused by Lightning Strike

MAYNARD — Chief Anthony Stowers reports that the Maynard Fire Department extinguished a shed fire earlier this week that appears to have been caused by a lightning strike.

On Wednesday, Aug. 2, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Maynard firefighters were dispatched to the area of Wood Lane after a resident reported smelling something burning.

Upon arrival, crews observed a shed on fire, which appeared to have been struck by lighting. The flames had extended to a nearby porch and melted the home’s vinyl siding.

Firefighters had the fire under control by 3:50 p.m. No one was home at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported.
