CHELMSFORD — Chief James M. Spinney is pleased to announce that Chelmsford Police Officer Bill Carlo was promoted to the rank of sergeant last week.

Sgt. Carlo began his new role on July 28, and will serve primarily as the patrol supervisor position during the midnight to 8 a.m. shift.

“Sgt. Carlo has been a key member of the Chelmsford Police Department and quickly earned a reputation as a highly knowledgeable and professional officer. ” Chief Spinney said. “I believe he will continue to be a vital asset in his new position and will go on serving the community with distinction.”

Sgt. Carlo began his career with the Lincoln Police Department in 2003 and worked there until joining the Chelmsford Police in 2012 as a full-time officer. The newly promoted sergeant serves on the Chelmsford Police Department Honor Guard as well as with the department’s Motorcycle unit and the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council’s Rapid Response Team.
